Christmas Message from California Riverside Mission

December 4, 2014

Dear Families of our California Riverside Missionaries,

We are really enjoying the opportunity to work side by side with your sons and daughters.  It is remarkable to watch them as they serve the Lord here in this part of his vineyard.  We often wish that you could see them as they teach investigators and as they train each other.  You would be pleased.  The Lord is truly magnifying their abilities.

We thank you for the emails and letters you send to your missionary.  Your support to them means so much.  Thank you also for your prayers in their behalf.  As the holidays draw near our missionaries are looking forward to talking with their families on Christmas day.  Please be sure to co-ordinate in your emails a time to call your missionary so that he/she will know when and how you will be in touch.

On October 14th and 15th Elder David Evans, executive director of the Missionary Department, toured our mission.  He trained with us for two days, meeting with half the mission at a time.  We were grateful for the vision of missionary work he shared with us and for the guidance he offered.

Every Sunday (and on other days too!) there are baptisms here in the mission.  We are so grateful for those that the Lord prepares to hear the Word.  It is a sweet thing to see a new member take his first steps in the gospel.  Your missionary has been by his side and will stay with him as he progresses toward the temple.  These are treasured relationships.

We send our love to each of you during this special season of the year.  We are grateful for your willingness to send your son or daughter, your brother or sister to serve here with us.  May each of you feel a special joy this year because of the gift you are offering through your missionary.

With love,

President John and Sister Jana Mullen

Letter from Mission President - John H. Mullen

Dear Brother & Sister Noyes,

We are so grateful to have Elder Noyes join us here in the California Riverside Mission! It
was exciting to meet him at the airport last week. I had the opportunity to interview your missionary and we were able to hear his testimony before having dinner together. We have been impressed with his testimony and desire to serve. It has been a privilege to get to know
him.

Elder Noyes is now hard at work in his new area, the MENIFEE Zone with his companion
Elder Reed.

Preparation day is Monday; most missionaries choose to email their family on that day.
We encourage you to write or email weekly as well. Thank you for keeping your letters
positive, uplifting and encouraging your son to work hard and take advantage of the time
spent here in doing the work of the Lord.

We look forward to a wonderful experience together with your missionary. Thank you for
preparing one worthy to serve. May God continue to bless you.

Sincerely,

John H. Mullen, President
California Riverside Mission

Letter to family 12-17-205

Hey I here to just say I survived my flight to California and I'm loving it here.  It is so cool.  My trainer is a saddle bronc rider from Nevada and is super cool too.  I'm loving the mission field so far.  We are going to go meet my first investigators here in about an hour.  I am so pumped. How's everyone doing?
Oh and we are allowed to listen to music as long it is clean :)  There are two artists I have found you should look up too.   The first is a 12 year old girl named Lexi Walker.  Her voice is AMAZING!  If you asked me her two best songs are The last Noel and Oh Holy Night.  She sang live for us at the Christmas Devotional.  I would love if you could get me a CD of hers if you can find it.  The other people are a band call Pentonixs.  They do remixes of songs and I they are so cool to listen too.  Also you CAN have guitars here and I was wondering if there was anyway you guys to get mine down here...pretty please???
So I guess I get to go meet more people, I'll talk to ya later! See ya!

Love,
Elder Jared Noyes
